China Mobile’s Samsung Galaxy S III i9308 will be released on June 6

The China Mobile-bound Samsung Galaxy S III that we’ve seen a few weeks ago will be officially released on June 6. This is what ePrice reports, also revealing that the smartphone’s model number is GT-i9308. Like most mid- or high-end handsets launched by China Mobile, the Galaxy S III i9308 will have TD-SCDMA connectivity. The rest of its features don’t differ from what we can find on the European i9300, including a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD screen, TouchWiz UI 4.0, Android Ice Cream Sandwich, 1.9 Megapixel front-facing camera, 8 Megapixel rear camera, 1GB of RAM, and Samsung’s 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos CPU. The Galaxy S III i9308¬†will “likely” cost ¬•4,999 (around $786) when bought without a contract agreement.

China’s other two mobile operators — China Unicom and China Telecom — are also going to launch versions of the Galaxy S III, and it looks like they’ll do it a few days later than China Mobile.

I just bought this phone in Hong Kong, and its definitively not like the international version at all. They completely fucked it up with all kinds of proprietary Chinese software, linked to China mobile. You can change only the basic language to English, but almost everything you need is in Chinese. If I cannot find a way to root it and get a proper English system with android market etc, this phone is completely useless to me. Fuck you Samsung for making international travelers suffer :(

I had bought a i9108 SII from China Mobile and it is similarly frustrating. The problem is in the model number, one needs to verify that the model no. is international one when buying. Hongkong normally have international versions. it is better to buy from reputable shops & chain stores.
