Two Samsung smartphones have been officially presented today, the Galaxy Grand I9080, and Galaxy Grand I9082. They share the same design, and the same features, but the latter allows you to use two SIM cards at the same time — so, yeah, it is a dual SIM handset.
As its name implies, the new Galaxy Grand family is all about large devices: the I9080 and I9082 measure 143.5 x 76.9 x 9.6 mm each, and sport 5-inch displays. The trouble is that these 5-inch screens only have WVGA (800 x 480) resolutions, and 187ppi. So we’ll probably be able to see some pixels from time to time on them, if we’re trying really hard. Anyway, that’s the only disappointment when it comes to the Galaxy Grand. The rest of the features look good: Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Multi Window capabilities, Bluetooth 4.0, HSDPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, 2 Megapixel front-facing camera, 8 Megapixel rear camera, 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, microSD card slot, and 8GB of internal memory.
According to Samsung, with the Galaxy Grand I9082 “it is possible to receive calls on one SIM number while taking a call from the other, ensuring efficient management of personal and work commitments without ever missing a call.”
The South Korean company did not unveil the prices of the Galaxy Grand I9080 and Galaxy Grand I9082. But it said that the I9082 would be launched first, starting early next year.
